We haven't tried this out yet, but simply because of a few reviews I've heard about how long it takes to get your luggage. How long does it usually take for your luggage to arrive in your room after your arrival at the resort? Also, how many resort stops does the bus make?
Thanks for the questions Beth. It does take a while to get your luggage sometimes. I would say up to three hours after arriving at your resort. I always pack bathing suits in our carry on. We just go the pool for our first day and then if our luggage isn't there then we change back into our travel clothes for dinner. This has never really been a problem for us. If there is something you need like medication or contact solution be sure to put it in your carry on.
How many stops the bus makes on the way to your resort really depends on what resort you are staying at and how busy it is. They usually stop at 3-5 resorts that are close together. Most people don't have any luggage so it doesn't take that long. If you are lucky you may be one of the first stops. Usually it takes an hour to an hour and a half to get to your resort. I'm not sure how long it takes if you went directly from MCO to your resort. Maybe 45 minutes?
Of course this is a free service so it will not be the quickest way but if you have a big family and you have to pay per person for transfers than I think it is worth it. It just depends on your budget. It is a comfortable ride.
Here's a tip if you're staying at the Contemporary as my wife and I always do...
The Magical Express goes to every other resort on that loop before the Contemporary, so if you want to save a LOT of time, exit the bus at the Polynesian and hop on the resort monorail. You'll be at the Contemporary much sooner, and you'll be ahead of everyone else who rides the bus all the way there.
